Project Selection- My Decision
The Magazine...
The biggest reason why I'm going to do the magazine is because I understand it better than the video project. The magazine project gives me a list of what to do (front page/table of contents/2 page article), while to do the video you have to come up with your own format plan.
Another reason is that I can target a specific interest of mine which doesn't have be a widely popular topic. I understand the things I like the most, and doing a magazine of my interests gives me the optimal potential to do the best project I can to get the highest grade.
Like stated in the con section of the film production, the element of sound would be a con for me. Though others would jump at the chance to add a variety of sounds and benefit from them, I feel dealing with the sound in the film would just slow me down and become added stress. a magazine obviously doesn't have sound so I can just focus on making a good visual element for the piece.
I've always been a good writer, and with the magazine I can put my writing skills to use while with film production I wouldn't have much experience to apply in the project. I would be more comfortable with writing than testing my skills with film.
The magazine project I'm considering is a fitness magazine featuring bodybuilding. I've been lifting weights for the past 3 years and I feel I have enough experience and knowledge about the subject to actually write a magazine about it.... and I think it would actually be fun because fitness is a large part of my life and it would be cool to share that. If I did work with a group it would be with people that also work out, and have enough knowledge about it to actually help me and add to what I know. I would have to do some asking about if anyone who does that would be interested. If not, like I said before, I feel that I have enough knowledge and experience to do the whole thing myself and make it really good.
